Just like a house has a postal code or zip code, each device connected to a network has a MAC address.  A Media Access Control is a unique identifier used to route data within the same network. It is connected to the Network Interface Controller (NIC) – where you make a physical connection to the network by connecting to a Wi-Fi signal or using an Ethernet cable. 

Learning how to find your iPhone’s MAC address can be useful if you need to track data usage on your home network or set up a Quality of Service (QoS) filter on your router. Here are a few simple ways to find it.

Open the Settings app

Open Settings. Then tap General and About and scroll to the Network section. The MAC address of your iPhone is in the Wi-Fi address field. 

Alternatively, go to Settings and then Wi-Fi. Then, tap the active Wi-Fi network, and you will find your iPhone’s MAC address in the Wi-Fi Address field.

Use your router’s app

If your router comes with an iOS app, you can easily check your iPhone’s MAC address via the app. Follow the app instructions, and you should find it in no time. 

Check your Smart Home app

If your router is connected to a Smart Home app, you can find your MAC address via your Smart Home app. Simply click on Device Information and voila – you can get the IP and MAC addresses of all devices connected to your Wi-Fi router in seconds. 

Access your router’s admin panel

Your router’s admin panel enables you to change how devices interact within your network. It also lists important information, such as MAC and IP addresses. 

To access your router’s admin panel, read the router’s instruction manual. Router manuals typically advise you to visit a unique IP address in your web browser and enter your router’s credentials. 

Then, click on Device Management, WLAN settings or Wi-Fi settings. Here, you should find your iPhone in the list and its MAC address.
