WhatsApp has been around for more than a decade – yet it shows no sign of stopping. It has more than 2 billion users worldwide and is one of the world’s most popular mobile messenger apps.
Undoubtedly, WhatsApp is godsent for those of us who don’t like to spend money on expensive calls and SMS packages. In addition to sending messages and calling your contacts, you can also use WhatsApp to share/send your location in real-time. It’s a super useful feature, especially if you’re en route to meeting someone or want to stay safe while travelling.
Here’s how you can send your location on WhatsApp on both Android and iPhone.
Sharing your location on WhatsApp if you’re using an iPhone
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap on Chats and choose the contact that you want to share your location with.
- Tap on the + sign (bottom left corner)
- Tap on Location.
- Choose between always allowing WhatsApp to access your location or Only While Using the App.
- Tap on either Share Live Location or Send Your Current Location (live location enables the other individual to track movement).
Sharing your location on WhatsApp if you’re using an Android phone
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap on Chats and choose the contact that you want to share your location with.
- Tap on the paperclip icon next to the camera icon.
- Tap on Location.
- Tap on either Share Live Location or Send Your Current Location.
- Hit Send.
